Often considered to be a global phenomenon, Bieber has toured around the world with chartbusters like ‘Boyfriend’, ‘What Do You Mean?’, and ‘Sorry’ to his credit.
Early Life
The Canadian-born artist was born in London, Ontario, and raised single-handedly by his mother Patricia Mallette in Stratford, Ontario. Born on the 1st of March, 1994, Bieber’s parents, Patricia ‘Pattie’ Mallette and Jeremy Jack Bieber, were not married, and Mallette raised Bieber as a single mother, taking up low-paying odd jobs, using the help of Justin’s grandmother and his stepfather Bruce. From his biological father, Bieber has half-siblings two younger half-siblings, Jazmyn and Jaxon.
He studied at the Jeanne Sauvé Catholic School, Stratford, following which he completed his high school from St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in 2012. At the age of 12, Bieber stood second at a local singing competition where he performed Ne-Yo’s song ‘So Sick’. Pattie uploaded the video of Bieber’s performance on YouTube for her family and friends to watch, following which he sang covers of various R&B songs, which soon made him an Internet sensation. The former marketing executive of So So Def Recordings, Scooter Braun, chanced upon one of Bieber’s videos from 2007 and was impressed. Bieber then traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to record demo tapes with Braun, following which he was signed by Usher under the RBMG Records, which is co-partnered by Braun.
Personal Life
The pop star has had a series of link-ups and relationships. However, the longest and the most talked about one continues to be the one he shared with singer Selena Gomez. The two first started dating in 2011 but called it off the following year, over Bieber, reportedly, cheating on her with Victoria Secret’s model Barbara Palvin. Nothing was confirmed on this with Bieber and Palvin denying the rumors of any possible romance. Gomez and Bieber continued to have an on-off relationship, with Bieber seeing other ladies while on a break with Gomez. He was linked to models like Adriana Lima and Miranda Kerr, and also went on to date American model Hailey Baldwin. The model and he shared an on-off relationship between 2014 and 2016, however, they abruptly split, given Bieber’s budding romance with Sofia Richie in 2016.

After being signed on by Usher and Scooter Braun, Bieber released his first album titled My World in 2009. Immediately shooting to fame, My World ranked at number six on the US Billboard 200 and sold over 137000 copies during its first-week sales. Of the seven songs on the album, ‘One Time’ went on to become the most popular track. The two-piece project was topped by the second part of his first album titled My World 2.0 in 2010, which debuted at number one at the US Billboard 200 and went to sell as many as 283000 copies in its first week. Bieber became the youngest solo artist to have ranked one on the chart, and My World 2.0 went on to become the first album after The Beatles to debut at one and sell more copies in the following week. Chartbusters like Boyfriend, All Around The World, As Long As You Love Me, and Beauty and Beat were a part of his fourth number-one-ranking album. The album was not only received well around the globe but was also the sixth best-selling global album of 2012. After struggling for over two years to start work on his new album, Bieber released Purpose in 2015. Prior to working on Purpose, Bieber was directionless about the kind of music he wanted to produce until he collaborated with Skrillex and Diplo on the song ‘Where Are Ü Now’ as part of the producers’ project Jack Ü. Purpose, a mix of EDM, dance-pop, and tropical music, went on to rank one, again, at the US Billboard chart. The album, consisting of hit songs like Sorry, What Do You Mean?, Love Yourself, and Company, went on to be nominated for the Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year at the 59th Grammy Awards.
