It was unfortunate that I had just entered Japan with 7 months of limitless adventures...then the pandemic hit. 

Working abroad in Japan during COVID usually equivalates to being bored in the house, right? Wrong! Yes, there were definitely limits on activities and events, but that didn't stop me from (safely) having fun while abroad!

Being an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Japan gives you enough leisure time to explore the country around you. In addition, there were times that Japan really pushed people within the country to travel because tourism was plummeting due to its closed borders. That really gave me the opportunity to visit fun sites, taste wonderful food, and experience exciting times with students and friends! 

I made a general bucket list of things you can do in Hokkaido during the summer. Of course, you can do any of these things anywhere! It really romanticizes and excites your summer when you feel like you have nothing else to do.
