This design story is centered around either 3 or 4 interrogative words. The 3 words are "why", "what" and "how", and they become 4 when we ask "why" again. We ask "why" often after we are born and I presume to ask "why" again before I die. In between we have many "whats" and hopefully plenty of "hows". This cycle isn't completed only once in our lifetime, however. We are constantly redefining ourselves, redesigning who we are. We make a mistake and ask "why" that happened. We then work to define the problem, fix it, and to know if its fixed or not. Whether we recognize this as a miniature design story or not is largely irrelevant, as long as we continue to ask why at the beginning and the end.
