As well as additional coaching workshops and skills series, we run cricket camps during the school holidays where children can spend the whole day having fun and sharpening their skills, click on cricket camps in the navigation to find out more and to book. We also have a wonderful intraclub competition "Lions vs Tigers" fun day mid season.

Junior Cricket Philosophy

Cricket should be enjoyable, encourage positive physical, mental and social development and set children up with strong life skills.

Obviously we want to help as many children as possible discover this wonderful game and help them develop into good cricketers, but producing 1st teamers is not our main goal. We want to help children develop so they can enjoy long happy and healthy lives and cricket is an amazing tool to be able to help that. Yes, we spend a lot of time coaching cricket skills and movements, but at the heart of all sessions we try to develop fundamental life skills that can help them in all walks of life, such as teamwork, positive communication, problem solving, leadership, supportiveness, patience, discipline, sacrifice, forming positive relationships and not to mention other mental benefits like confidence and performing under pressure.

We want to use the fun and exciting game of cricket to help set our children up with the skills they need to be successful in life, not just on the pitch.

Player Focused

We understand that not all players are going to want to get the same things out of our junior programs. For some, performance is at the forefront of their priorities and we can definitely cater for those that strive to play high levels of cricket, whether that's becoming a 1st teamer or playing representative cricket. For others, it's developing those strong friendships and a sense of belonging that's most important. Whatever the case may be, we do our best to cater to our players' needs as opposed to a blanket "here's how to get better at cricket approach."

So Why Cricket?

"I'm fundamentally from a multisport background. I also specialise in coaching basketball and badminton and have had the chance to coach along side some of the best football, rugby, wrestling, tennis and hockey coaches, so it's not that I'm being biased. While I encourage all children to go and play a variety of sports, especially when they're young, for me, no other sport I've been part of gives you the opportunity to develop the sheer variety of sporting and life skills." - Mat Holly, Director of Junior Cricket and Head Coach at CRCC and Career Sports and Fitness Coach.
