This is a surreal season in CRC history and ministry. Peace to you.
Because of Synod’s decisions in recent years, many ministers and some congregations in the Christian Reformed Church are compelled to leave the denomination or are wondering about leaving. Reasons why vary.
There are several confessionally Reformed denominations to which a minister might transfer or that a congregation might join. One denomination for both ministers and congregations to consider is the Reformed Church in America.
In 2024, a significant number of CRC ministers sought the transfer of their ordination and ministerial credentials to the RCA. The Task Force on Ministerial Credentials and the RCA was established to serve them and the RCA in that season.
Now in 2025, the surge to leave the CRC has abated and the role of the Task Force seems to be no longer needed. However, the resources prepared by Task Force remain available because of the value they were to so many ministers, and the value they may yet be for some ministers in the CRC who wonder about their continuance in the CRC.
It is anticipated that congregations leaving the CRC will consider joining the RCA. Resources made available on the Congregations page exist to help ministers, councils, committees and congregations process questions and information as they consider the RCA as their church's next denominational home.
Peace to you.
