I think things feel pretty good while driving, but I'd like to try and convey some more "weight" through the wheel when the truck is stationary so that it resists turning a bit more. Any ideas on what I should start tinkering with?

I don't by any means claim these to be the ultimate settings, as a lot of it was just trial and error. Others may hate how this feels. But I feel like it's good enough to get what I expect from the game. Steering feels suitably heavy when the truck is stationary or moving slowly, and lightens up with speed. There's a decent amount of road feel without being too noisy. One thing to note: if you drive very much on unpaved (non-tarmac) roads, you may find that the feedback is a bit violent unless you slow right down to a crawl. I may at some point see if I can dial that down a bit without messing anything else up, but it doesn't bother me enough to want to mess with it atm.

(It's nearly impossible to tell from this pic, but Engine Resonance is two tiny clicks up from the minimum value...which I think gives it just enough to be able to feel a nice subtle rumble when the engine is under load. This slider is VERY sensitive. Go much beyond where it is now and it'll feel like your whole truck is going to shake apart!)

I notice from your settings that you are not using higher sensitivity. One of my reasons for wanting a CSL DD is the option of using more truck like steering angles of 1800 modern trucks and 2520 for some of the American classics trucks I have. 1.42 does allow you to set higher sensitivity numbers, but I am not sure if this is just animation or taken from direct user wheel input. I have tied dialing in 1800 with my CSW v2.5 but you just see the on screen wheel turning at 2:1, very unrealistic imo.

Also, the lane assistant features different modes, each serving distinct purposes, making it more complicated. Now, truck drivers can enjoy simply turning it on along with adaptive cruise control, letting the truck do more of the driving.

EDIT2: so i get it that the frame target limiter won't work on vr games. now i have a quest 2 running at 1.5x supersampling. and it works very good i always have 90fps exept there seem to be a bug where it starts laging the whole time until i go the game menu and press f11 to select the monitor view, i press again f11 to set it to the vr screen and that i have i again 90fps until i play 2-3 minutes until it starts again to lag all the time. every time i repeat this step it seems to fix it for short time. the amd driver reports 180fps in euro truck simulator...it would be handy if i set the real frames in vr to 45 fps via steamvr or with another method and let the fluid motion do the rest. and this to max refresh rate of the vr screen 90hz for example. but fluid motion tries to hit the performance target to 180fps and then it starts after some time to lag.

It helps that, everything else aside, ETS2 is just an extremely playable, polished, and well designed video game. The driving model is weighty, nuanced, and satisfying. There's a whole management side of things to get into, where you can build and run your own trucking empire. But the vast, seamless open world is the real star. In a single journey you can take in the lush vineyards of southern France, the dramatic mountain passes of Norway, the winding roads that snake along the coast of Italy, and all manner of gorgeous scenery.

My problems aren't going anywhere fast, but with ETS2 I can at least forget about them briefly as I drive across this beautiful, varied map and deliver cargo from one city to another. Even if you don't care about trucks or driving simulators, it's still worth playing. You'll be surprised how absorbing it is, and before you know it you'll have lost more hours than you ever thought you would to a game like this. Everyone I know who's played it has loved it, and I can't say that about many other games. Long live Euro Truck Simulator.

Just-In-Time Delivery

This skill opens important deliveries at rank 1 and urgent deliveries at rank 2. Important deliveries give a 3% higher reward per skill rank and a 20% XP bonus. Urgent deliveries give a 5% cash reward bonus per skill rank and a 30% XP bonus.

Though at first this seems a very nice skill, there is a drawback. Important and urgent deliveries have a much smaller delivery time frame. Since the penalty for a late delivery is very high, this skill should be taken later when you have a truck that can do the deliveries required.

As this is the very start of the game, the first goal is to get your own truck. Having a bit of cash on hand won't exactly hurt either.

As you don't yet have a truck, you can only do Quick Jobs. Try to pick jobs that start and/or stop at cities you haven't been to before, though largest cash reward is still priority.

When visiting cities, drive in front of areas that have a question mark (?) on the map/GPS. This will allow you to discover recruiting agencies and other truck dealers.

When you level up, assign skill points according to the recommended order shown above.

Perform quick jobs until you receive an in-game email from both the bank and from the truck dealer for your Preffered Truck Design (selected during profile creation). You'll likely be level 1 or 2 at most when this happens.

Though you could purchase any truck you want, this is a quick leveling guide so you want to make your life as easy as possible. This means getting a truck that isn't too expensive, and can be used for as long as possible without wasting money upgrading it into usefulness.

With the above in mind, I recommend the Volvo FH16 Classic Sleeper. If you strip off a few extras on this truck, the price can be reduced to less than 100,000 euros and yet it still comes with a 540 HP engine giving 2650 Nm of torque. This is enough to haul even the heaviest loads (25 tons in an unmodified game) and can therefore take you all the way to end-game.

First, go to the bank (via the menus or the bank's email) and take out the 100,000 euro loan. Now go to the Volvo dealer via the truck dealer's email and select the FH16 Classic Sleeper (the cheapest one, and likely the only one you are allowed to buy right now anyway). Now customize this truck so that it has a blue paint job (the cheapest paint available) and remove any unneeded parts such as the sunvisor, front and extra side mirrors etc. This will bring the price of the Volvo down to 94,430. Buy the truck.

This should then leave you with a little bit of money to help cover loan installements, fuel costs and possible repairs at the start of the next phase.
