Coyote Ugly

As explained in the film, the slang term "coyote ugly" refers to the feeling of waking up after a one-night stand, and discovering that one's arm is underneath someone who is so physically repulsive that one would gladly chew it off without waking the person just so one can get away without being discovered. Coyotes are known to gnaw off limbs if they are stuck in a trap, to facilitate escape.

The extended cut adds approximately six minutes to the film's runtime, most of which consists of additional shots of the "coyotes" dancing on the bar and of Violet and Cammie trying on different outfits while shopping. Arguably, the most notable additions are the extension of the sex scene between Violet and Kevin (Perabo used a body double for most of the scene), and the inclusion of an additional scene which shows the "Coyotes" winning a softball game because Cammie distracts the pitcher by stripping.[28]

The term coyote ugly has existed since at least 1984 as a joke to refer to an ugly one-night-stand partner. The definitive origin of the term is unknown, but popular etymology suggests that it drew inspiration from actual coyotes, as they tend to be so desperate to escape from traps that they chew their own limbs off. Other early uses imply the sexual partner was as ugly as a coyote, hence coyote ugly.

The words \u201Ccoyote\u201D and \u201Cugly\u201D make so little sense next to each other, in this order, that I feel betrayed. When I try to figure out what it means, using my very good reading skills, literally the explanation that makes the most sense is that it\u2019s verbatim a joke the Incredible Hulk tells at the Comedy Central Roast of Lassie. Is that what your movie is about???? Because the trailer is just a low-rise jeans commercial, so I\u2019m confused.

Maria Bello explains that \u201Ccoyote ugly\u201D is a term that refers to when you get so drunk that you go home with a random stranger and then you wake up and realize that the person you fucked is so ugly that you would chew off your own arm to get away from them. Wow, surprisingly unsatisfying to finally solve the mystery of what this title means! Maybe because it sucks!!! I\u2019m going to open a bar and call it Coyote All Bodies Are Good Bodies! I much prefer the approach of Frank Vincenti of Mineola. This self-styled coyote defender spends his spare time trying to protect coyotes on Long Island and in New York City. Yes, New York City. From a recent NY Times story:
