Lynn's Lyrics

Imagine being the teacher in a high school choir room when all of a sudden you learn all students must wear masks and socially distance by 6 feet! And, oh when singing, the droplets can go 28 feet! That was the information Lynn worked with all last summer to get ready for the fall semester. By the time school started, the risers were put away and centers created around the room. Students sing only in small groups or outside weather permitting--her room is on an outside wall. Her students have had the opportunity this fall to be in the bell choir, learn some piano, and work on theory written lessons during this unusual time.

The first 2 concerts had to be cancelled. The first was scheduled outside in an open-air stage. But then Lynn and I both came down with COVID at the same time. The concert was rescheduled to the day of the massive ice storm here--the biggest one in history here. Some were without power for up to 14 days. That concert was recorded and sent out. The first actual concert was December 3. Parents for the first choir came in one door, enjoyed their students singing, and exited another door while the next group came in. It has been a creative year for sure!

In early March, literally the week before the lock down, Lynn presented her show choir's work with the special needs students at the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association in Little Rock, Arkansas. Proud mom was there to hear it.

Tim's coffee shops are growing. Not Your Average Joe has it's first location still in midtown Oklahoma City. The second one will be open on the Oklahoma University campus starting next semester. The Homeland grocery stores in town are building the first 2 in their stores and hope to eventually have them in all locations. There are interested parties in Tulsa and Texas for opening others. The mission of hiring special needs adults is inspiring to all who hear the story. Check out the mission here.

Tim continues to preach on Sunday evenings at Oakcrest Church of Christ and calls games for Oklahoma Christian, Moore Schools, and anyone else who asks. He has a great announcing voice.

Kinsey as you can see, was a candidate for homecoming queen at Dallas Christian School in Dallas. We were proud to attend the game and watch the festivities. Even though she did not win the crown, she is our queen!

She graduates this spring and is trying to decide on a college to attend. With a perfect ACT score, she just has to choose one and they will accept her. She wants to major in psychology but spend lots of time backstage on theatrical productions.

David entered high school this year, blue tinted hair and all! He was in marching band this fall and, of course, his mom's choir. He loves to sing and is developing Jerry's beautiful bass voice. In band, he is a percussionist and constantly drums on any and everything. We enjoy our Tuesdays with him as we don't see him as much as we would like. Other than singing, David like anything computer including games. He plans to build a computer as soon as he collects enough money. He is an opinionated teenager but very enjoyable to be around.

David also sings in the Oklahoma Youth Sing, a new name for Norman Children's Choir. They added an older choir this year allowing David to continue. Below is a video of his fall band concert and also another of Lynn's Christmas songs.
