Identity Verification
To comply with financial regulations and protect our users, Cowrie uses Stripe, Inc. as a third-party service provider for identity verification.
When you complete identity verification, you are redirected to a secure, Stripe-hosted page where Stripe may collect and process information such as:
- Government-issued ID
- Date of birth
- Residential address
- Selfie or facial image for identity matching
Cowrie does not collect or store any of this identity documentation or personal data. We receive only a verification status (e.g., “verified” or “unverified”) to determine your eligibility for financial features within the app.

Information We Collect
Cowrie collects and stores only the information necessary to create and manage your account and enable app features. This includes:
- Email address
- Phone number
- Nickname (display name)
- Referral or invite codes
- Account credentials (securely encrypted)
