A pre-application has been submitted in the hopes to establish a pharmacy within Countesswells. Following any pre-application meeting, potential applicants must confirm they wish to proceed. A 90 day public consultation stage must then begin within 8 weeks.
Links to the public consultation will be posted here and on the Community facebook page as well as the NHS pharmacy application website.
The applicant, Mr John Fowlie, lives in Aberdeen and currently owns the retail unit between Sainsbury's and the Community Treatment and Care Clinic - NHS Hub. Owner and Director of JMF Healthcare Limited, he already manages a group of pharmacies across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Angus.
Plans for the Countesswells Pharmacy include opening 9:00am - 6:00pm Monday to Friday and 9:00am - 1:00pm Saturday. The pharmacy would have 'Pharmacy First Plus' status meaning it would have a pharmacist independent prescriber on site for patients presenting with a common clinical condition including but not limited to;
urinary tract infections
respiratory infections
ear, nose and throat
dermatological presentations
allergies
eye infections
This is beyond the scope of a standard NHS Pharmacy First Scotland service which would otherwise require onward referral to another healthcare professional.
This is a separate application from the previous one made in 2022 by another provider.
