A planning application has been submitted by Forestry and Land Scotland to upgrade, re-route and creation of footpath trail and associated works at Countesswells Forest.
Proposal
It is proposed to lay down approximately 0.78 kilometres of path along three separate stretches within the area of Countesswells Forest, as part of a longer term programme to renew and improve its path network. This would largely be along routes that previously existed prior to storm damage. The first stretch of path would function as a shared path accessible to horse riders, accessed from a gap in the dyke near Gairnhill Road and running west. A shorter new link path from this stretch would be laid down north to south, and a third separate stretch perch point laid down running east to west to link historic paths themselves awaiting renewal.
The path would be 2 metres wide and be constructed with a surface layer 150 millimetres deep atop a base level of granular material excavated 150 millimetres into the existing ground level. Drainage would be installed where required.
Decision - approved conditionally
