This 2-credit course will provide an overview of corporate compliance as it pertains to multinational corporations. It will examine the relevant American and international regulations affecting global business including, but not limited to, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the UK Bribery Act, Sarbanes-Oxley, Dodd-Frank, anti-money laundering rules, and data privacy constraints.

Students in the College of Business Administration are expected to comply with the academic requirements and policies listed in the university section of this bulletin. Amplifications and additions to the university requirements are detailed herein and govern only those students enrolled in the College of Business Administration. Procedures developed to enforce university and college regulations are available for review in the college office.

This course surveys recent developments in global privacy and security trends, covering legal and policy frameworks in international data privacy and data protection. It focuses on current and proposed laws and regulations that govern information security and privacy domestically and abroad. Specifically, it will include a close investigation of how directives such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union impact state and federal law, and internal corporate policies, in the United States. It will also examine how multinational corporations navigate global privacy laws and regulations in North and South America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. This course satisfies the upper-level writing seminar requirement.

John C. Cameron, associate professor of management and organization, held corporate positions in health care administration and corporate law. He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. Currently he serves as the co-chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Health Care Law Committee. Mr. Cameron teaches courses in leadership development, business ethics, bioscience management and negotiations. His research interests are in the areas of corporate governance, bioethics, leadership, and regulatory compliance.
