Update Nov 7 - Despite new parts, the webcam has decided to retire on us after about six years. A replacement is on order and hopefully we can get back up and running soon. Thank you for your patience.

would like to be able to put in overlays like custom webcam frames, video borders and custom alert panels. just being able to upload your own media for it would be super useful and make the users who use Twitch Studio stand out and look more professional.

ROUTE CONDITIONS: Patchy snow, 1 inch at the trailhead with 4 inches inches of snow at Chocolate Falls. Exposed ridge from the last trees to 5800ft (1767m). Lots of exposed rock and snow bridges. Hard ice layer persists from 5800ft (1767m) to 7600ft (2316m) which softens throughout the day. Rim has 3ft (1m) of snow and and a 10ft (3m) cornice.

You might not want this stuff showing on your ceiling in a nice home, but it would be great for pantries and closets. Nicer homes use it for cornice lighting, and it is also used commercially in display cabinets and storefront displays.

The RCM-8164 seemed to display in monochrome, I don't know why. All I had done was remove its lens. So in July 2021 I took the Logitech webcam I'd been using for Zoom (bought another webcam for zooming), removed its lens, and attached it to the 55mm camera lens I had been using. Its field of view is more magnified than its predecessor, however. Not sure if that is good or bad. As always, it is difficult to keep it focussed clearly.

I was dissatisfied with the circular visual field and even more unhappy with the image quality through the binoculars. So in March 2013, I managed to disassemble (destroy) the RCM-8164 webcam and extract the circuit board (containing the imager). With the webcam lens removed, I mounted the board behind a 100mm screw-in lens I used to use with an old Pentax SLR camera.Lucky I had a macro extension sleeve; so with a little cardboard and scotch tape, it wasn't too hard to attach the imager to the lens. The focal length adjustment on the lens works fine, but it still is kind of tough to focus using the hanging string assembly. Also, this lens zooms in fairly high making it harder to maintain a stable image while adjusting the focus. It's not as sharp as I'd like it to be -- I'm guessing it has something to do with the magnification (plus it's looking through a window/storm window at an angle).I might try using a 55mm lens instead which will probably show the whole feeder in the view (yes, that's what is there now!).

Construction activity in the building continues throughout as the building has been fully enclosed. Work in progress varies from the first floor, where drywall is being hung and finished, to the third floor, where wall framing is underway and mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins are progressing. Installation of stairs will continue, and the installation of the elevators will begin this week. Major structural steel work is complete. Minor steel trim-out continues, including the installation of stairs and installation of the cornice at the top of the exterior walls. There will be numerous man lifts around the perimeter of the building to allow work to progress on the exterior building skin ahead of the masonry installation. The mason will continue to work on several areas of the exterior as the sheathing (yellow board) and air barrier (gray rolled-on membrane) are completed. The mason will work on tented and heated scaffolding to prevent freezing of the fresh mortar. Final exterior wall system shell enclosure is proceeding on the west, south and north with sheathing and masonry work. Roof membrane work is complete. Flashing and trim-out of roof is proceeding on the penthouse and lower roofs as weather permits. Installation of storefront and glass is proceeding on the west as weather and adjacent work permit. Installation of storefront and glazing will proceed ahead of the masonry on the east. Preparation for curtain wall and glass is underway. Installation of the curtain wall is underway as adjacent work and weather permit. Materials are stocked on site, and installation is waiting for glass fabrication. Temporary enclosure is complete throughout the building to facilitate interior work as the exterior wall systems are being constructed. Construction of interior wall framing is continuing on all floors in conjunction with the rough-in of mechanical and electrical systems. Work on the atrium enclosure is underway. Watch for construction traffic on Lewis, 10th, 11th and Bradley streets. For safety, pedestrians should make eye contact with equipment operators and delivery drivers outside the fenced area so they are aware of their presence. There will be equipment moving materials from storage to site, along with ongoing delivery of materials to site from vendors. You can visit the webcam here.
