Purpose:
Cornerstone Recovery Group is an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.
AA framework:
Tradition One: unity and common welfare come first.
Tradition Three: anyone with a desire to stop drinking can belong.
Tradition Five: the primary purpose is to carry the message.
Tradition Ten: no opinion on outside issues
Tradition Twelve: principles over personalities.
1) Focus of Shares
Shares should relate to alcoholism and recovery (Steps, sponsorship, service, AA experience/strength/hope).
To protect unity and safety, we do not debate or promote:
• Politics or social issues
• Religious arguments (pro or con)
• Outside controversies
• Personal attacks or “calling people out”
2) Respectful Conduct
• No cross-talk (interrupting, correcting, arguing, unsolicited advice)
• No harassment, bullying, or disruptive behavior
• The Host may redirect any share that becomes off-topic, cross-talk or disruptive.
3) Zoom Safety and Host Authority
For meeting safety and flow:
• Host may mute participants if needed.
• Host may remove participants from the meeting who continue disrupting the meeting.
4) Progressive Boundary Process
First issue: Host redirect
Second issue (same meeting): Mute
Continued disruption: Removal from the meeting
If disruptive behavior becomes a pattern, trusted servants, group chair or designate, may contact the person privately to explain expectations and next steps.
5) Temporary Suspension for Repeated Disruption
If a person repeatedly disrupts meetings despite reminders, Cornerstone Recovery Group may apply a temporary suspension from this Zoom meeting: 30 days, then 60, then 90 (if needed)
Return is welcomed if the person agrees to follow these guidelines.
6) Virtual Parking Lot (After Meeting)
The parking lot is optional fellowship. Same guidelines apply: To protect unity and safety, we do not debate or promote:
• Politics or social issues
• Religious arguments (pro or con)
• Outside controversies
• Personal attacks or “calling people out”
The host can end the parking lot.
7) Principles Over Personalities
These guidelines apply to everyone equally, without favoritism, to protect the group’s unity and primary purpose.
