Rattlesnake Master

Rattlesnake Master is a very distinctive prairie plant. It's flower head is a spiky looking greenish-white ball. If you look closely at the long leaves you will see that there are tiny spines along the edge of the leaves, almost like a cactus. Native Americans dried the seedheads and used them for rattles. Early settlers believed that the root of the plant could cure Rattlesnake bites. They were wrong.
