Storyboard Timeline

Objective: This activity aims to help students visualize and understand the sequence of events in "Amal Unbound" while exploring key themes and character development.

Materials Needed:

• Poster board or large paper

• Markers or colored pencils

• Sticky notes or index cards

Procedure:

1. Introduction to the Novel:

   • Introduce the novel "Amal Unbound" to the students, providing a brief overview of the story, its setting, and main characters. Highlight key themes such as courage, education, and social justice.

2. Chapter Summary Review:

   • Divide students into small groups and assign each group a set of chapters from the book to summarize. Each group will be responsible for summarizing the events, conflicts, and character development within their assigned chapters.

3. Storyboard Creation:

   • Provide each group with a section of poster board or large paper to create a storyboard timeline of the novel.

   • Instruct students to use markers or colored pencils to draw scenes from their assigned chapters, focusing on key events and moments that drive the plot forward.

4. Sticky Note Planning:

   • Before drawing on the poster board, have students plan out their storyboard by writing key events or scenes on sticky notes or index cards. They can arrange these notes in chronological order to help organize their storyboard.

5. Storyboard Assembly:

   • Once students have planned their storyboard, they can begin drawing their scenes on the poster board, placing them in sequential order to create a timeline of the novel's events.

6. Discussion and Reflection:

   • After completing their storyboards, have each group present their timeline to the class. Encourage them to explain their choices of scenes and how they connect to the themes and character development in "Amal Unbound."

   • Lead a discussion on the sequence of events in the novel, focusing on key themes such as the importance of education, the struggle for justice, and the power of resilience.
