ControlX: Adult/Reel Blocker

KeepTrackin built ControlX as a free app with optional premium features. This privacy policy explains how the app works and what data, if any, is handled.

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE

We do not directly collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information. The app does not require you to create an account or provide any personal details to use its features.

However, the app uses the following third-party services which may collect certain information automatically:

Google Play Services
Google Play Billing (for Premium subscription and lifetime purchase)

HOW CONTROLX WORKS — LOCAL PROCESSING

ControlX operates entirely on your device. All content filtering, DNS interception, and app blocking is performed locally using Android's built-in VPN and Accessibility APIs.

DNS Filtering: The app establishes a local VPN tunnel to intercept DNS queries. This tunnel is used solely to block or redirect domain lookups. No internet traffic other than DNS queries is routed through this tunnel.
App Blocking: The app uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect and close specific screens (e.g., YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels). No screen content, text, or personal data is recorded or transmitted.
All filtering decisions are made on-device using a local blocklist. No browsing history, app usage data, or DNS query logs are sent to our servers.

VPN USAGE NOTICE

ControlX uses Android's VpnService API to establish a local DNS filtering tunnel. This is NOT a traditional VPN — it does not route your internet traffic through external servers, does not mask your IP address, and does not provide anonymity or privacy from your internet provider. The VPN interface is used exclusively to intercept DNS queries on-device.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE NOTICE

ControlX optionally uses Android's Accessibility Service to automatically close specific app screens that the user has chosen to block. This service runs locally on your device. ControlX does NOT use the Accessibility Service to:

Read, record, or transmit any text you type
Capture screenshots or screen content
Monitor apps other than those selected for blocking
Collect or share any personal or usage data
Share data with any third party or external server

DATA RETENTION

Since ControlX does not collect or transmit personal data, there is no data retention period. All filtering activity stays on your device and is cleared when the app is uninstalled. User preferences and block settings are stored locally using Android's SharedPreferences and are never uploaded to any server.

IN-APP PURCHASES

ControlX offers Premium plans via Google Play Billing, including monthly subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase. All purchase transactions are handled entirely by Google Play. We do not store, process, or have access to your payment details, credit card information, or billing address.

Subscription management (cancellation, upgrades, refunds) is handled through your Google Play account settings.

LOG DATA

ControlX does not currently use any third-party crash reporting or analytics tools. The app does not collect or transmit log data, diagnostics, or usage statistics to any server. If this changes in a future update, this policy will be updated accordingly and users will be notified.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

ControlX is designed to be used by parents and individuals managing their own device usage. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through this app, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to remove that information.

SECURITY

We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect any information processed through the app. Since ControlX processes all data locally on your device, your filtering activity and blocklist are never transmitted over the internet. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We recommend reviewing this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
