Effective Date: 2-4-2026
Content Credentials Inspector ("the extension") respects your privacy and is designed to operate with minimal data access. This Privacy Policy explains what information is (and is not) collected and how it is used.
The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII).
All processing, including the inspection of Content Credentials (C2PA metadata), is performed locally within your browser.
When you use the extension (for example, via the right-click context menu on an image), it may temporarily access:
The image you selected
The current webpage context (only when you initiate an action)
This access is used solely to analyze embedded metadata and is not stored or transmitted externally.
The extension may use your browser’s local storage to save:
User preferences (such as settings)
Temporary inspection results (if applicable)
This data:
Remains on your device
Is never shared with external servers
The extension does not:
Sell user data
Share data with third parties
Transmit data to external servers
The extension requests certain permissions (such as activeTab, scripting, and contextMenus) strictly to enable its core functionality:
To allow user-initiated inspection of images
To analyze Content Credentials metadata on webpages
These permissions are used only when necessary and only after user interaction.
Because all processing occurs locally and no data is transmitted externally, your information remains under your control within your browser environment.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" above.
