About the podcast

Contemplating Culture is a podcast for all curious about the state of society. We are Catholic missionaries, so we speak from this lens, yet with a hope that it's a conversation that all can enter into. Consider it a book-club with friends where you don't have to read the book, tea house conversations about the big questions of life, a taste of history, philosophy, sociology, theology, and even a place where you can be challenged in thought or guided in prayer.

The project began when Kathryn studied A Secular Age by Charles Taylor as a university subject lectured by Bishop Mark Edwards OMI. "The ideas in this book seem to be really important, but I can't see too many people making their way through all 800 pages," she said to herself. "One day I'd like to cartoon this book, so that I can visualise the concepts," she said out loud. And she did.

Once she finished uni, Kathryn began making her way through the book at a contemplative pace, soaking in each idea as she read it. Thoughts turned into sketches. Over time, she began talking about these sketches with Katherine and they discovered a mutual hunger to learn, to share, and to explore it all through a missionary lens. And thus a podcast was born.

Welcome to the journey!
