To keep your contacts backed up and synced to all your devices, you can automatically save device contacts as Google contacts. Google contacts are available across Google services and can be managed on any signed-in device. If the original device is lost or damaged, the contacts can automatically sync to a new device when you sign in.

When you sign out of a phone or tablet, all your Google contacts will be removed from that device to prevent other people who use that device from accessing them. Your Google contacts will remain in your Google Account and sync to a new device when you sign in.

Tip: To use device contacts across Google services without saving them as Google contacts, turn on Save contact info from your devices. That setting includes SIM contacts and contacts syncing with other cloud services, but you can only manage them on the original device. To back up device contacts without saving them as Google contacts, learn how to back up data on your Android device.

Tap Google  Settings for Google apps  Google Contacts sync  Also sync device contacts  Automatically back up & sync device contacts.

However, the "daily" backup has not triggered in 3 days (Actually says "Last Backup: 3 days ago" under the Daily Backup menu). I also checked the hidden .Contacts-Backup folder and it also shows the file was last updated 3 days ago. What am I missing?

In this article, we'll discuss how you can export your Outlook email, calendar and tasks to a .pst file, and then import the data to another email account. You can also use the .pst file as a backup in case you lose your Outlook data.

If you're not already using Outlook, add your Microsoft 365 email account to the Outlook app. After you do this, Outlook will automatically sync with Microsoft 365. You'll see the contents of your Microsoft 365 mailbox appear in Outlook. Then, you can use Outlook to move email, contacts, and calendar items into your Microsoft 365 mailbox.

After your email data is exported to a .pst file, it's portable! You can import it to other email accounts. If you want to do this using Outlook, see Import email, contacts, and calendar from an Outlook .pst file.

Now that your Outlook data is in a .pst file, it's portable. You can save the .pst file to OneDrive, then download it to your new computer. You can also save to a portable drive, then import your email, contacts, and calendar to Outlook.

When Outlook exports email, contacts, and calendar info to a .pst, it makes a copy of the information. Nothing leaves Outlook. You'll still see and have access to your email, contacts, and calendar in Outlook.

You want periodic backups: You can periodically backup all of your email, contacts, and calendar to a safe place. After you create the .pst file, copy it to a safe location: a USB flash drive, another hard drive, or cloud storage such as OneDrive or Dropbox.

I have been having issues with iCloud in that when I add new contacts to my phone, it doesn't update in iCloud. I figure it has something to do with iCloud trying to back up everything on my phone. But all I want it to store is my contacts. My entire phone is backed up on my Mac so I just need the contacts to sync on iCloud. Is there a way to isolate an iCloud back up so just the contacts are stored? Or would I have to manually upload the vCards one by one into my account?

That is where you need to be careful. You need to find out where all your contacts are. Seems you have them spread between a number of places. You need to get them all put into iCloud, and then sync that to the phone, or get them all together on the phone and save them to iCloud. If you wish to keep those other groups on the phone, then you need to go into Settings, and make sure that iCloud is set as your default location.

I would like to sync them with iCloud so I can have my contacts on my Mac. I tried signing out, toggling the contacts on and off and and syncing only the contacts but it just doesn't update the contacts in iCloud itself.

Make sure that you are not using more than one service to sync your contacts. It could be that you have your contacts being synced to your mail account and that is set as the default. That could explain why the contacts are not going to iCloud. Do you use a mail provider that does contact sync, such as Comcast, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.? If you go to your Contacts, do you see anything in the upper left corner of the screen, such such as All Contacts, or All Groups? If so, can you click on that and see what other service is listed there?

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! My default was set to Exchange so all of the missing contacts were saved under exchange! I exported the contacts then converted to vCard and iCloud was updated! Thanks again!!

The error you get is from tar which notices that the content of the folder calcardbackup-date is being modified while creating the archive (which of course has to result in an error). Is there any other program modifiying the content of that folder while my script is running?

To sync/copy your contacts to the My Cloud would require the use of a third party app that has the capability to sync or copy the contacts to an NAS device (either locally or remotely). Check the Android/Google store for such an app if it exists. Or log into the Gmail account and export the contact list and save it to your My Cloud.

As previously indicated one can backup their Contacts which their Android device syncs to their Google Gmail account by logging into their Gmail account, then select Contacts > More > Export then follow the on screen directions. Once the file is exported one can copy the exported file to their My Cloud or any other location for backup.

Hi, I am wondering how to recover my contacts from Backup Assistant Plus, but my situation is slightly more complicated than a simple recovery of data. I had to do a factory reset because the new Lollipop upgrade wasn't working right on my Moto g. Prior to doing so, I synced my contacts via the Backup Assistant (as the Verizon Wireless staff member helping me instructed me to do). It said it was successful. When the factory reset was complete, the Setup Wizard automatically ran through the Backup Assistant Sync. It said it was restoring my contacts, but none appeared on my phone, and -- worse-- my 900 contacts have now disappeared. I can't recovery them through the normal Backup Assistant recovery process. Is there a way to access them? It looks like Verizon's website has transitioned over to Verizon Cloud (I looked and it contains none of my contacts). I've tried Verizon Customer support and they haven't been able to help; they advised me to reset my phone again (which I did and I still have no contacts). Thanks for any help.

After you find them and I am leaning to say they are in the Cloud Trashcan, then change them all over to google contacts and let Google back your contacts up. You can also back up pics and anything else to google as well. Much more reliable and easier to use.

Perhaps you don't like iCloud because you don't trust it. Or maybe you don't want to pay for monthly storage. Whatever the case may be, there is another way to backup your contacts without using iCloud. Here's how.

I have Google backup turned off permanently, however my contacts are still backed-up somewhere to Google cloud. I discovered that yesterday from another device that offered me to recover my contacts from a current backup.

As said already, backup of contacts by Google does not respect the general Settings>General>Backup>Google_backup>Backup_to_Google_Drive = off. This problem may occur only on LG G6, or in Android Oreo in general.

i can now report that a backup of calendars and contacts with Thunderbird works. The return of the contacts to the server also works with thunderbird. The calendar recovery can be done with importing events without any problems. Simply load the ICal file created with Thunderbird and you have your calendar back on your screen.

Are you familiar with ADB? If not, you can also just copy the backup contacts2.db file to your FP2 and then use a (root-capable) file manager to copy it to /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts (after renaming the original /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/contacts2.db to contacts2.db.bak).

The only problem is that neither OS offers a proprietary method of connecting to each other, so users can quickly find themselves frustrated when trying to swap files and contacts between the two. The good news is that there are some great solutions available to help you easily connect an Android phone to Mac in a simple and stress-free fashion.

With MacDroid, you can easily pull contacts from Android devices, edit Android files on Mac, and more. Two modes help you tailor the service to your needs: single-operation for quick connections, or multi-operation for more powerful file transfers. MacDroid offers compatibility with macOS 10.13, as well as support for MTP and ADB connections. 2351a5e196
