Contact Extractor — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

This policy describes how the Contact Extractor browser extension handles data. Contact processing takes place locally in your browser. The extension does not send collected data to the developer or to external servers, and does not provide cloud synchronization.

Data processed and purpose

While collection is enabled, the extension automatically scans supported HTTP and HTTPS pages you open or reload, including subsequent page changes. It processes page text and contact links to find email addresses and phone numbers. Page language and domain may be used locally to recognize phone formats.

For each saved contact, it stores the contact type, value and normalized value, the full source URL (which may include query parameters and a fragment), a company or site label derived from page metadata, title or domain, a short surrounding text snippet, and the date and time of collection. Page text, context and URLs may contain personal information.

These data are used only to collect and deduplicate contacts, display counts and the contact table, search and filter records, prevent deleted contacts from immediately reappearing, and create CSV exports. The extension does not maintain a separate browsing-history log.

Storage and retention

Saved contacts (up to 10,000), the collection setting and operational state are stored in the extension's local browser storage. Operational state includes whether contacts have previously been collected, a reset token and deletion revisions. The contact table keeps its search query, filters and page position in tab session storage, subject to browser session restoration.

Saved contacts have no automatic expiry. You can view them in the contact table, delete selected records, or remove all saved contacts with “Clear data”. Selective deletion retains a local suppression entry containing the contact type and normalized email address or phone number, together with a deletion revision, to block reports from older pages. “Clear data” also removes these entries. Newly opened or manually reloaded pages can collect contacts again.

Pausing collection stops further collection but does not delete existing data. “Clear data” does not reset every preference or the table's session filters. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage. Exported CSV files are separate and must be deleted independently.

No analytics, transmission or cloud sync

The extension contains no usage analytics, telemetry, advertising trackers or remote error reporting. It does not send contacts, source URLs, context, collection dates, search queries or usage events to the developer or third parties. It does not use browser cloud storage synchronization. The developer cannot access locally stored contacts through the extension, and does not sell or share those data or use them for advertising.

This statement concerns the extension itself. Websites you visit, Chrome, the Chrome Web Store and any independently configured backup services operate under their own policies. Opening a source link is an ordinary browser visit to that website.

CSV export

A CSV file is created locally only when you click an export button. It can contain company/site labels, email addresses, phone numbers, full source URLs, context and collection timestamps. The extension initiates a browser download and does not upload the file. Any subsequent storage, sharing or upload of that file is under your control; a download location you choose may be managed by a separate synchronization service.

Permissions and security

Website access allows the extension to detect contacts on supported pages. Local storage retains contacts and settings. The context-menu permission adds a shortcut to the extension interface. No extension account is required.

The extension relies on the browser and operating system to protect its local storage; it does not add its own encryption to stored contacts or exported CSV files. Anyone with access to your browser profile or exported files may be able to access them.

Limited use

Contact Extractor's use of information received through Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Information is used only for the contact-management features described above, not for advertising or unrelated profiling.

Questions and changes

For privacy questions, use the developer contact details shown on the Contact Extractor Chrome Web Store listing. You do not need to send your contact list. If this policy changes, its revision date will be updated and the revised policy will be included with the extension.
