Welcome! My name is Constantina Markou and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Economics at Radboud University in the Netherlands. Alongside my research, I teach various economics courses at the bachelor level.
My passion lies in exploring the intricate connections between economic behavior, policymaking, and societal well-being. I enjoy experimenting with new research methods to address complex socioeconomic questions. In my teaching, I strive to inspire the same sense of wonder and inquiry among my students.
My professional path has been diverse. During my time as an economics student, I contributed to multiple research projects and behavioral interventions. Prior to that, I gained experience as a trainee lawyer and legal researcher. I've worked in different countries and professional settings, from interning at the Central Bank of Cyprus to serving as a due diligence analyst for pension funds in the Netherlands.
I completed both my BSc and MSc in Economics at Radboud University in the Netherlands, where I also explored my interest in Data Science and Sustainability through minor programs.
Prior to this, I earned my LLB from the University of Cyprus, successfully passing the Cyprus Bar Exams and obtaining my qualification to practice Law.
I am conducting research in the field of behavioral and experimental economics under the guidance of Dr. Sascha Füllbrunn and Dr. Jana Vyrastekova. My PhD project explores the relationship between time preferences and social preferences, with a focus on how psychological connectedness to the future influences this dynamic.
Currently, I am working on an AI-assisted systematic review of experimental literature on this topic, with the anticipated publication of results in 2025.
