Siyeon's Sustainable Impact on Communities
Siyeon (she/her) is a 16-year-old global climate activist born in South Korea but based in Louisiana. Incredibly passionate about environmental policy, climate education, leadership, and community building, Siyeon has worked to provide educational activities and host cli-fi book video chats alongside The Climate Initiative. Siyeon is also an EarthEcho Water Challenge Ambassador who conducts monthly water quality tests. At school, she serves as the co-president of the Eco Club where she spearheads guest talks, Mardi Gras bead and glass drives, goat yoga, and canoe trips for her community. An avid writer, she earned 3rd place in TCI's Changemakers competition and the runner-up award in Write the World's Writers on Earth Competition. Her op-eds have been featured in the New York Times, The Advocate, NOLA, and among the selected essays for the ESA. Siyeon also conducts astrobiology research on the sustainability and medicinal benefits of Lyngbya cyanobacteria, which was presented at the ASGSR conference.

Siyeon is a sign of inspiration in her local community in Louisiana but also nationally. Her advocacy for programs passionately entails her commitment to environmental activism and research.
