Conor McGregor appears to be fine with waiting until 2021 for his next UFC bout. On Wednesday, UFC president Dana White told ESPN, the promotion's broadcast partner, that she wouldn't give McGregor a 2020 date as she wanted for a possible relaunch with Dustin Poirier. Instead, the UFC offered McGregor a January 23 date as an acceptance or departure case.

“We offered him a fight. We gave him his date, "White said Wednesday." We didn't have a date this year. We have everything ready this year, with the world champions fighting for a title. Apparently he's trying to interact with Dustin Poirier, so we went to ESPN (broadcast partner) and got him an appointment. He was offered Dustin Poirier on Jan. 23. That's a yes or a yes. "

The answer appears to be positive, as McGregor took to Twitter later Wednesday and said he agreed. He also wants the fight to take place at AT&T Dallas Cowboys' Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

I accept, Jan 23rd is on! My goal is to see this fight take place in Cowboy stadium. Proper Style! Jerry Jones is a friend and the stadium can hold our crowd. I will be ready for Texas and Texas will be ready for my fans! Then Manny. #McGregorSportsandEntertainment

McGregor’s position demands that data be made at least feasible after the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) told MMA Junkie last week that it is ready to bring back live martial arts events to fans. The Cowboys are already one of the few NFL teams that allows fans to enter their stadium.

McGregor (22-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC) expressed interest earlier this year in being active and fighting “one season” with at least three fights in 2020. The coronavirus pandemic is complicated by those plans.

The UFC star has previously said he would accept Poirier's relaunch on the condition that it happened this year.
