Indonesia earthquake and tsunami
On 14th October 2018 members of Connecting Hands ran the Wimbledon Half Marathon, to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Palu, Indonesia. On Friday 28th September a magnitude 7.5 earthquake and tsunami struck the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. After 48 hours the death toll nearly reached 2000, with nearly 200 thousand displaced. More than 150 aftershocks have been felt, thousands of homes, hotels, shopping malls and several mosques have collapsed.
Connecting Hands raised over £1200 for the cause and donated via Penny Appeal (UK registered charity number 1128341).
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Connecting Hands work with and offer activities to those who are working towards achieving their Duke of Edinburgh's (DOE) Award , particularly the volunteering section. See the Duke of Edinburgh's website for further details,
To assist the formation, digital marketing and online presence of Connecting Hands, in early 2018 we worked closely with a DOE volunteer and mentored them in marketing ideas and venture creation concepts. In return they produced lots of valuable ideas and deliverables for our website and social media channels.
