since windows 7 (maybe even since xp) there is a program (or command) called netsh it comes pre-shipped with the OS that can be called from the command prompt and with a few parameters you can set up a personal hotspot.

I found some code for a Powershell script that turns the hotspot on, placed it in a Powershell file (.ps1) and created a task in the windows task scheduler that runs the powershell script at startup (without having to actually logon). It still wasnt powering on the hotspot. Then ran across an obscure post online that stated you have to turn the power hybernation function off on the PC.

1. Follow the given procedure in the video until you see the firewall (network) option.

2. Select Interactive filtering instead of Automatic. (Make sure the devices you want to connect to connectify me are with WIfi turned off)

3. After selecting interactive mode, ESET SS will give you a some of the allow deny options for some applications, now allow all the CONNECTIFY ME dialogues and make them a rule by checking the same button.

4. Turn on the wifi on the devices you want to connect to connectify me.

5. Connect to connectify me in your devices.

6. Now ESET SS will again ask for inbound and outbound traffic, check your device name and then and then select the ALLOW Button with making a rule checked.

7. Done. Now your devices must be connected to the connectify me.

8. Turn on the automatic filtering in Eset SS.

I've tried connectify but it's not cheap software. I've also tried MaryFi, which looks to work, but it requires you to share your mobile broadband connection. In Windows 7 Starter you can't share connections, so MaryFi is no good. I've also tried a couple of other without any success.

I have used AC-7265 on a Win 8.1 computer with connectify and has worked great. Since updating to windows 10 and updating intel drivers, it now says AP mode is inactivated. No matter how many times i reinstall the drivers, the hardware, etc, I cannot activate this. Connectify help indicated that with the AC-7265, Intel has turned off AP mode in Windows 10.
