The transition of children and young people from the residential care system to independent living represents both a crucial stage and a major challenge for the social protection system. In this context, the present workshop aims to create a space for dialogue, reflection, and the exchange of best practices regarding effective support models for this category of youth.
Throughout the event, the following topics will be addressed:
The structure of the care system in the Republic of Moldova, with a focus on the types of services available for children separated from their parents;
The evolution of the residential care system, analyzing the reforms undertaken in recent years and the strategic directions for promoting deinstitutionalization;
The main challenges faced by young people leaving the care system, as identified in national studies and research – lack of family support, limited access to education, the labor market, housing, and healthcare services;
The role of social services in ensuring a successful transition to adult life and sustainable integration into society.
