Fdny Dispatch Tones

    Fdny dispatch tones are the sounds that are played in the firehouses of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) when a call for service is received. The tones alert the firefighters to the type and location of the emergency, and also indicate which units are assigned to respond. The tones are composed of two parts: a house tone and a unit tone.

    House Tone

    The house tone is a single tone that is played for about 10 seconds. It is used to alert all the firefighters in the firehouse that a call is coming in. The house tone varies depending on the borough where the firehouse is located. The house tones for each borough are as follows:
