Tom is violinist and violist, and also sings as a bass voice in the choir. Tom grew up learning piano first, then the violin. He was always captivated by orchestral music, film scores, and even fantasized about being a Disney composer some day. At age 12 he took a hiatus from the violin and piano, and spent most of his high school years playing trumpet, trombone, and guitar. At age 16 he picked up the violin again and this time enjoyed it much more than in his earlier years. As fun as it was to play in band with all his friends, he craved for the sound of the symphonic orchestra with all the colours of every instrument. He decided to pursue music studies in university, with his main reason being, ‘I don’t want to work in front of a computer, I want to work with people and my hands’. While we live in a fully computerized world, Tom appreciates that his daily routine is filled with interactions with people, and lots of a hands on activity. He may never become a Disney composer, but being a conductor and player of Disney and film music is pretty much the next best thing.
