My name is Emily Mullen and I am a senior at E.C. Glass. I have been playing violin for 13 years, viola for 6, and have dabbled in percussion, cello, and piano. I recently committed to the Shenandoah Conservatory for music education. Last year I had the opportunity to plan a benefit concert with the LCS Elementary Strings and this year, I knew I wanted to do another charity concert. With my mom being diagnosed with breast cancer during the fall semester, I decided I wanted to plan a concert to support the Garden in honor of my mom!
The Awareness Garden was established in 2003 to celebrate the life of Lalla Hancock Sydnor, an avid gardener, passionate cancer advocate and lifelong Lynchburg resident. Today the garden thrives with support from the community and a dedicated committee that oversees landscaping, fundraising and outreach. Working together, we hope to create greater awareness, support and healing for those affected by cancer. To learn more about The Awareness Garden, click on the image!
