Stage 2 - Guidelines

Developing the Solution

Now that you have identified a problem that needs to be addressed, in Stage 2, you will focus on coming up with a novel and effective solution to this problem. During the solution development stage make sure you adhere to following practices.

• Make sure your problem is well-defined (done in Stage-1)

• Try to come up with multiple alternatives

• Evaluate the alternatives and select the best alternative

• Assess the feasibility of the solution 

• Develop a robust plan for solution implementation

As mentioned previously, we do not expect you to do a real implementation (proof of concept) in this competition. But you must present an effective solution plan which should include your background research, proposed implementation methodology, the novelty of your solution (compared to other available solutions), possible challenges, expected outcomes, etc.

Important!

As we mentioned during Stage-1, make sure your solution incorporates an appropriate communication technology (within the domain of interest of IEEE ComSoc) when coming up with your solution. 

For example a solution only containing a mobile app or a website will not be considered as communication technology under our evaluation criteria.                                                                                                                                                                                                  

Solution Presentation

Each team must submit their finalized solution as a short report. The report must contain the following.

1. Title 

2. Team name and members

3. Briefly describe the problem (since this is already done in stage 1, keep it brief)

4. Considered alternatives

5. How you are going to implement the solution (methodology)

   • Technical details about your solution implementation (e.g. block diagrams, hardware, software, algorithms, etc)

   • Also, include how you are going to use communication technology for your solution in this section

6. Discuss the feasibility, possible challenges, novelty and impact of your solution.

7. References (if any)

Report submission

1. The report must contain a maximum of 10 pages (do not exceed the page limit).

2. The report must be submitted in a PDF format.

3. Submission Deadline : To be announced

Since the evaluation of the reports will be done as indicated in the above table, consider the marks allocation when preparing the report for the solution. Good luck!

10 competitors will be selected from Stage-2 to the final stage. Here, the selected competitors need to pitch their solution before an evaluation panel. The winners will be announced afterwards.
