Escape Room Overview
Purpose: In our professional development workshop (escape room activity), we want to ensure all our faculty learn about the CARE framework and how they will implement it in their classes. This will help us to model equity-minded activities.
Objectives:
Learners will be able to:
Explore and identify key terms that promote a sense of belonging and community through problem-solving and peer collaboration
Recognize shared core values in an online escape room environment
Apply value affirmation intervention strategies to recognize how they can improve students’ learning experiences
After completing the Escape Room activity in the faculty development workshop, faculty will have the opportunity to identify the element Community and Agency from the CARE Framework through problem-solving activities in an online escape room.
In this interactive professional development workshop, you will be joining others in a group to solve clues and escape this virtual room. You will be asked to read, watch videos, answer questions, and solve puzzles to earn the three clue solutions that will help you escape. There is no specific order for completing each clue activity, but make sure to write down each clue solution as you will need it to complete the Unlock the Room activity.
Once you have all three clue solutions, remember to come back to this Home page and either click on the I'm ready to unlock the room! button below or the Unlock Room tab at the top right of this page. Whenever you are ready, scroll down to the picture of the desk and start solving the clues! Each image links to a separate clue. The monitor leads to the one clue, the pad and pencil direct you to another clue, and the phone links to another clue.
