The Ultimate Schererville, IN Travel Guide: Discovering its Rich Heritage and Modern Attractions

Schererville is a city located in Northwest Indiana. It was named after Frank Scherer, who platted the land in 1871. The city has a population of around 16,000 people, and it's home to numerous attractions that are sure to impress locals and visitors alike. Here's everything you need to know about exploring this historic town!

Golden Corral Buffet & Grill

Golden Corral is an American restaurant chain which offers an all-you-can-eat buffet and grill. It is a privately held company headquartered in the U.S. city of Raleigh, North Carolina, with locations in 43 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. America's #1 All You Can Eat Buffet. With over 150 choices, there's something for everyone at Golden Corral. The company had more than 500 restaurants by 1987. That year, they decided to begin franchising by licensing 55 distressed restaurants to their most successful general managers. Because of poor training, nationwide concerns about the consumption of red meat, and a shift in market shares to upscale restaurants, sales were falling. The company added salad bars to all of its locations, sacrificed seating in most and in others sacrificed part of the parking lot to make additions to the buildings.

The company updated their restaurants to a concept, called "Strata", during the mid-2000s in an effort to bring more of the food preparation into view of the guests. In all locations, guests serve themselves, including requesting made-to-order items such as Belgian waffles, omelets and char-broiled steaks.

Marathon Pipe Line

Proudly operated by Marathon Pipe Line, Capline has been a critical part of America's energy infrastructure since 1968. As the energy landscape has changed over the past decade, Capline is now positioning itself for the next iteration of crude oil movements. Commissioned in 1968, Capline Pipeline has been a critical part of America's energy infrastructure. Capline, owned by Capline Pipeline Company LLC, was originally constructed to transport crude oil produced in the Gulf of Mexico to the Midwest. It then became the link between the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) and the Midwest, enabling large volumes of imported crude oil to flow north. As the energy landscape has changed over the past decade, Capline is positioning itself for the next iteration of crude oil movements. Through the Capline Reversal project, the system now transports crude oil from the Midwest into South Louisiana.

The reversal of Capline was completed in 2021, with an origin point of Patoka, Illinois to various terminals in St. James, Louisiana. Capline Reversal was sanctioned based on anchor shipper commitments. If others are interested in securing shipping space on this pipeline, please refer to the Business Development contact at the bottom of this page.
