[Dianne] Hello my name is Dianne [Robyn] and my name is Robyn.
Dianne, what do you remember about mapping tools used in the 1960s?
[Dianne] I remember the teacher using a rubber stamp which had a map of New South Wales and the rivers. She would put it in the ink pad and get the ink on the underside and then press it in my book and there I would have a map of the rivers ready to trace over.
Now all I need is to trace with my pen and ink. I'm going to trace the coastline first. Lots of bays and harbours – and we’re nearly done – all the way down the south close to the border.
Robyn, what did you use to do a map in the 1960s?
[Robyn] This is a map of Australia and I remember tracing around it in my work book, always on a blank page. Tracing around it, going in all the, all the crevices and up around. Here we go.
Dianne and Robbie, how did you colour your maps?
[Robyn] You shaded around the map with a blue pencil, shaded around with your finger. After that gently, gently and being so creative.
End of transcript.
