Go hiking in Morialta Conservation Park or walk Waterfall Gully to Mt Lofty
Check out Chihuly in the Botanic Gardens
Visit the Panda’s at Adelaide Zoo!
Have a day trip to Monarto Zoo!
Try a Farmers Union Iced Coffee, eat some Fruchocs, have a Frog cake or pie floater and try the range of pies/kransky’s from Villi’s Bakery or Balfours
Many thanks to the students and post-docs in Adelaide for contributing to this list!
A colourful glass art exhibit, Chihuly in the Botanic Garden, has opened just a few minutes’ walk from the University of Adelaide campus!
The exhibition, exclusive to Adelaide, features contemporary installations woven throughout the gardens and marks the Australian debut of celebrated artist Dale Chihuly.
As part of the Chihuly in the Botanic Garden event, the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing has curated the Glass Science Exhibit in the Museum of Economic Botany, also located in the Botanic Garden and free to visit. This exhibit highlights the groundbreaking science of Professor Heike Ebendorff-Heidepriem and her team and the stunning art of local glass artist Karen Cunningham. From 3D-printed glass and optic fibre drawn in space to glowing diamond nanoparticles embedded in glass—come and witness how light and glass together unlock extraordinary potential in technology.
