a conference dedicated to supporting and empowering marginalised and underrepresented groups in STEM Centres of Excellence
inSTEM will be held over two days on the 27th and 28th of May, 2025 at RMIT University in Naarm/Melbourne. The conference is the initiative of nine Australian Research Council Centres of Excellence (ARC CoE) in STEM. The ARC Centres of Excellence are hubs for large-scale research and innovation and bring together researchers, higher education institutions and industry partners from Australia.
inSTEM is the collective effort of these nine ARC centres to promote collaboration and advance diversity within Australia's STEM community, ensuring the success of the next generation of Australian researchers.
COMBS will pay for COMBS Members to attend the full conference and networking dinner on Tuesday evening. InSTEM Registration will be completed and paid for on your behalf by the COMBS Operations Team when you complete the InSTEM Grant application form.
For those traveling from interstate, a travel scholarship is available to cover flights and one night's accommodation, up to $1000.
All travel will be booked and paid for by the COMBS Operation's Team. The team will use the information provided in the InSTEM Grant application form to complete the RMIT travel approval, we will be in touch once this step has been completed to book your flights and accommodation.
While in Melbourne, we strongly encourage you to also organise meetings and lab visits with COMBS collaborators at RMIT, Swinburne and/or Monash. Additional costs for extra nights of accommodation and transport can be included in the travel scholarship.
Day 1: Collaborative Learning for Leaders, Allies, and Marginalised Groups (27th May)
All allies in STEM research are welcome to join the educative discussion centred on creating effective frameworks to improve workplace diversity, and reduce the stress and invisibility felt by marginalised researchers.
Day 2: Career Development and Focus on Marginalised Groups in STEM (28th May)
Attendees will be able to hear from leading experts on topics and strategies that support career development and progression in STEM. Tailored workshops will be provided to help attendees build a competitive and authentic career portfolio and gain
work-life balance insights.
