The microcomb and laser comb practical session will be ‘hands on’ and allow attendees to operate frequency comb sources (and likely a dual-comb) as well as the instruments to measure their characteristics. Characterisation instrumentation available will include high bandwidth temporal (oscilloscopes + detectors, autocorrelator), power, frequency (RF spectrum analyser), and spectral (standard Optical Spectrum Analyser and WaveAnalyser), as well as noise (Relative Intensity Noise measurement). There will also be the opportunity to get ‘hands-on’ with fibre optic components and interconnects such as polarisation maintaining fibre, FC-APC connectors, splitters, in-line polarisers, WDM’s, and operate a cleaver/ splicer.
Spaces are strictly limited to 24 and will be offered on a ‘first add name to spreadsheet’ basis. Indicate your interest here. You must also be registered on Clever to attend the Monday training workshop (and the COMBS Annual Workshop) to attend.
A copy of the presentation on practical information for the event is available here.

We want everyone to have the opportunity to attend our HDR/ECR Training Workshop and the Annual Workshop. If you have a barrier (which may include caring, family or other responsibilities, paid work/shifts you cannot miss or really anything that might mean you haven’t registered), please contact Ruth (ruth.waterman@rmit.edu.au; +61 3 9925 4476) so we can discuss. We are committed to helping you attend the workshop in 2025. As many of you have heard me say “the answer is always no if you don’t ask”, so please ask (because hopefully the answer will be yes).
