Overview
ColorWand is a Chrome extension that lets you drag-select an area of a webpage typically a clothing item in a product photo and see its dominant color classified into a seasonal palette (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter). ColorWand is built to run entirely on your device. This policy explains, plainly, what the extension can see, what it does with it, and what it never does.
What ColorWand does
When you activate ColorWand and drag-select a region of a page you're viewing, the extension captures the pixels within that selection, analyzes their color values locally, filters out background and skin tones, and shows you the resulting color and seasonal classification in a small popup.
Data we collect
Pixel data from your selection: collected, but processed locally only. Captured only when you actively drag-select. Never transmitted anywhere; analyzed and discarded, or optionally saved to local extension storage.
Browsing history or page content: not collected. ColorWand does not read, log, or transmit the pages you visit outside the pixels within your active selection.
Personal identifiers (name, email, etc.): not collected. ColorWand does not ask for or collect any personal information.
Analytics or usage tracking: not collected. The current version includes no analytics, telemetry, or third-party tracking scripts.
Financial or payment information: not collected. ColorWand does not currently process payments.
Where data lives
Any results ColorWand saves for you such as a history of extracted colors or your identified season are stored using Chrome's built-in local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device. This data is never uploaded to a server we operate, because ColorWand does not currently operate a server. Uninstalling the extension removes this locally stored data along with it.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties, advertisers, or data brokers. There is nothing to share: nothing collected by ColorWand leaves your device.
Permissions we request
ColorWand requests only the Chrome extension permissions needed to capture the visible portion of the active tab within the area you select, and to display its popup interface over the page. It does not request permission to read your browsing history, access other extensions, or run in the background when not actively in use.
Your controls
Clear any saved color history at any time from the extension's popup or options. Disable or remove ColorWand at any time from chrome://extensions, which also removes its locally stored data. ColorWand only captures pixels when you initiate a drag-select it does not run passively in the background.
Children's privacy
ColorWand is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since no personal data is collected from any user, there is no children-specific data to safeguard beyond the protections described above.
Future changes (Pro features)
A future version of ColorWand may offer optional paid features (e.g. saved wardrobe history, multi-item palettes) through a third-party payment processor. If and when that launches: payment details would be handled entirely by our payment processor (e.g. Stripe) ColorWand and its developer would never see or store your card information. This policy will be updated in advance of that feature shipping.
Changes to this policy
If ColorWand's data practices change, this page will be updated. Material changes affecting how your data is handled will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
