I have looked into Evernote and was thinking about switching to that possibly but I really don't need to/dont see a point to it. After looking at evernote, it has the same note file size that colornote does, 25mb (i think its 25 MB). Either way, once i saw it was the same file size i kind of figured there was no point to changing aside from it might easier as far as syncing between my PC and phone.

Is a program that can open the colornote file and copy the text in said file and paste it into say a word document or something that can be opened on more than one program?

After looking at colornote, you cannot open that file in any other program, which is why I was looking to see if there was a way to automatically by maybe a script or program open the colornote file, copy the contents and paste it into a word doc. It is more so that way I have a backup of the file if anything happens

Site admin. I really like colornote but I am not all that computer savy, so until they make it easy to sync with PC I am looking elsewhere. You mentioned you are using an alternative. Could you please tell me which one so that I can check it out? Thanks for your help. Cheers,

Oh wow, I didn't know there were two apps that are named so similarly. Thanks for the link idea, I'll definitely do that. It should mitigate any confusion.

Turns out it was "Colornote" all along and when ajay suggested that the name is actually "Colornotes" it just didn't occur to me that there can be another app so similarly named.

--Edit--

I can't seem to edit my original post. Could somebody please paste the link in there, and change all the "colornotes" to "colornote"? (Including the one in the url to the github page. I'll go back and change it so it matches up again.) Here's the link:

I can't seem to run this script to convert my colornote.db to joplin. I have installed all the necessary apps copied the colornote_to_joplin.py and colonornote.db files to the python install directory. When I try to run the .py file in python I get stuck. I get the error in the screenshot below.

Sorry. This code is from the good old times where I didn't really bother/know about error handling, so it's a bit hard to diagnose. My best guess is that the script can't communicate with the joplin api properly and that's messing up the json library. If it's super urgent, you can try and paste print(r.json()) between lines 32 and 33 in colornote_to_joplin.py and send me the output after you run the code again. (Make sure that the line you just pasted lines up with the two surrounding lines. i.e. it's prepended with 4 spaces).

If it's not super urgent, I'll try and update the code with proper exception handling at some point which would make the problem easier to diagnose.

Thanks for responding. Am on windows 10, am not a coder. I however edited the colornote_to_joplin file and ran it as directed and attached is the screenshot of what I got.

I wasn't able to obtain a "colornote.db" file, I think ColorNote now uses a different storage format, or atleast that's the case when encryption is enabled. Instead, I had to email the new owner of ColorNote and ask for a CSV file of my online backup, and ask them specifically for the CSV file to include the last modification date of each note. They emailed me a password-protected zip file of my "notes.csv" file. I then modified Ratchek's script so it imports this CSV file into Joplin.

I've posted the script on github as a fork of Ratcheck's project.

I ran into this when I purchased a new phone. SD cards were not the same. One from my old phone would not fit the new one. I used windows to copy the ColorNote files over to the new phone. I first used a USB cable on an old phone and copied files to a folder on the Windows desktop. Next, I used a USB cable on the new phone and copied the files into the Data/colornote directory on the new phone.

Two Evernote users in my office also request this feature. As developers, we often have a lot of windows open - it would be very helpful to be able to immediately identify the Evernote app by the note bg color. White just blends in with all the other windows, especially for any user who just switched from Mac Notes. Thank you!

The natural light coming into a home through windows and glass doors make subtle changes in the colors in each room. In Georgetown, a pink-red hue is reflected into the rooms from the brick side walks and buildings. In suburban Maryland and Virginia, green is reflected into the homes from the larger green expanses of trees and shrubs.

A. How intense the color can be depends a great deal on the light in the room. Choose three close but different saturations of the color you want. Paint these colors on pieces of cardboard. Place the colors close to the natural light by a window and also in a far corner that receives the least light. Then try your three different intensities of color on large patches on the wall opposite the windows. When the paint is dry observe the colors at different times of day and evening. This will save you time and money before you paint the entire room. Various finishes can be applied to enliven or soften bolder colors. Glazes can soften the color as well as give it liveliness and transparency. Sponging, ragging, and washes give texture to the walls. 006ab0faaa
