OVERVIEW
Color Match does not require an account, and we do not sell personal information. The app reads colours from a still photo you take with the camera or a photo you choose, compares colours, and stores your palettes and match samples locally on your device. It also uses Google services and an advertising mediation partner for analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, and advertising.
CAMERA
The app asks for camera permission only when you tap the button to allow the camera on the Camera tab. When you tap Grab, the camera takes one still photo without location data; the app reads the colour of the marked area on your device. The photo is kept as a temporary file in the app's cache only while it is shown on screen, and the app deletes it when you grab again or leave the Camera tab. A photo taken to set the reference card is deleted right after it is read. The app does not save camera photos to your photo library and does not upload them. If you decline, the rest of the app still works, including picking colours from photos.
PHOTOS
When you tap to choose a photo on the Photo tab, the app opens the system photo picker, and only the one image you pick is read. Depending on your system version, you may be asked to allow photo access. The picked image is analysed on your device; if the system gives the app a temporary copy, the app deletes that copy when you pick another photo or leave the Photo tab. The app does not change your photo library and does not upload your photos.
INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
The app keeps one document on your device containing:
- Palettes: up to 100 palettes, each with a name (up to 40 characters), a creation time, and up to 40 colours. Each colour stores its hex value, where it came from (camera, photo, typed hex, or palette), whether the reference-card adjustment was applied, and the time it was added.
- The Match session: one reference colour, up to 24 sample colours, and your match tolerance.
- The reference-card setting (the colour-correction values measured from your white or grey card).
The app may also store basic operating information such as an app-use count, review-prompt progress, and cached advertising or More Apps configuration.
The developer does not run a server that receives your colours or photos. The app reads developer-controlled advertising settings and a More Apps list (including app icons loaded from web addresses) from Google Cloud Firestore, but it does not upload your palettes, samples, or photos.
When you share a colour, share a palette as text, or export a palette as a CSV file, the content goes only where you choose to send it through your device's share sheet.
ANALYTICS, CRASH REPORTING, AND ADS
Google Firebase Analytics may process limited app-usage and technical information, such as app launches and sessions (with a running launch count), screen views, menu and review-prompt interactions, and ad revenue events, along with app version, device type, and app-instance identifiers. Feature events record actions and settings only: grab_done (sample size), white_ref_set, white_ref_rejected (reason), photo_opened (whether the image was colour-converted), photo_refused (reason), palette_extracted (number of colours requested), hex_shared, reference_set and sample_added (colour source), palette_saved (number of colours saved and whether a new palette was created), and csv_export (number of colours). On iOS, the tracking-permission answer is also recorded. These events do not include colour values, palette names, or images.
Google Firebase Crashlytics may process crash reports and related technical information needed to diagnose app problems.
The app shows banner, interstitial, and app-open ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may also request ads from the InMobi mediation network. Google and InMobi may process advertising identifiers and device, app, consent, network, and ad-performance information to provide and measure ads, and may use an IP address to estimate an approximate location even though the app has no location permission.
Banner ads are not shown on the Camera tab. An interstitial ad may appear right after you save colours to a palette, and it is cancelled if you touch the screen first. App-open ads may appear at launch and when you return to the app, but not when you come back from a permission prompt, the photo picker, or the share sheet.
PERMISSIONS AND ADVERTISING CHOICES
The feature permissions the app requests are the camera and, where the system requires it, photo access for the photo picker, as described above. It does not request location, microphone, contacts, Bluetooth, health data, or notifications.
Where required (for example in the EEA and UK), Google's consent message (UMP) is shown first, and personalized advertising stays off unless your choice allows it. On iOS, the App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown only after that step and only when personalized advertising is allowed. If tracking is not allowed, the IDFA is not available to the app or its ad partners. If the consent message cannot be loaded, the app does not request ads until it is restarted and does not ask for tracking permission. The app works whatever you choose.
You can change iOS tracking permission in Settings, and reset or delete the Android advertising ID in your device settings. Where Google requires it, the app menu shows "Privacy choices", which reopens the consent message so you can change your advertising choice. The menu also has a Privacy Policy page with a short summary; this full policy is the complete version.
STORAGE AND YOUR CONTROL
On the Palettes tab you can rename or delete palettes and remove individual colours. On the Match tab you can remove samples, clear all samples, and clear the reference colour. You can turn the reference card off on the Camera tab. You can also clear the app's data on Android or delete the app. Local data may be included in an Apple, Google, or device backup depending on your backup settings; uninstalling normally removes the active copy but may not remove an older backup.
Because we do not receive your palettes or photos, we cannot delete them for you; the controls above remove the saved palettes and samples from the app's storage. A CSV file you export is written to the app's temporary cache before the share sheet opens and is not deleted by the app afterwards, so it can remain on the device (even if you cancel sharing or later delete the palette) until the operating system clears the cache, you clear the app's data or cache on Android, or you delete the app. For questions about data processed by Google or InMobi, or to ask us for help with a privacy request, contact us at the address below.
Data processed by third parties is retained according to their service settings and policies. We use these services under their applicable terms, and we ensure that third-party service providers with whom we share user data provide the same or equal protection of that data as stated in this policy.

SECURITY
Your saved data is kept in the app's private storage on your device, which the operating system protects from other apps; it is not separately encrypted by the app, so protect your device with a passcode. Apart from the limited analytics events described above, the app does not upload your saved data. Communication between the app and Google services and the ad mediation partner uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit what the app collects to what is described in this policy.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Phone cameras adjust exposure and white balance automatically, and screens and printers show colours differently. Colour values and match results describe what the camera or image recorded under the current light; confirm important colour matches (for example paint or fabric) with a physical sample under the lighting where it will be used.
CHILDREN
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
CHANGES
We may update this policy if the app or its services change. The date above shows the latest revision.
