About Stephanie Buechler

Hello! My name is Stephanie and I live in Saguache which is a tiny town in southern Colorado. My life is spent with my husband, three dogs, and a cat in our beautiful home on 40 acres in the foothills of the San Juan Mountains. It is in these mountains where I love to photograph, hike, climb, summit, bike, camp, meditate, practice yoga, and explore.

I guess you might want to know about my wedding experience! Well, I’ve been in the wedding industry for the last 14 years. First I traveled the world photographing larger weddings. Once I met my husband, we decided to step away from the larger weddings and focus on elopements. We officiated and photographed elopements in the woods that surrounded our cabin in southeastern Kentucky. Over the last seven years I have officiated or photographed weddings large, small, religious, non-religious, spiritual, quick and easy…you name it!

I believe your wedding day should be unique to you. I want to hear your story to see how I can incorporate it into the wedding ceremony that I will write especially for you. Whether it be a simple ceremony incorporating poetry or Bible quotes, your ceremony should be something special. It should be a reflection of who you are as a couple past, present, and future. I work together with my couples to create something they will think back on and smile about.

If you would like to know more, simply fill out the contact form and I’ll be happy to answer any questions!

What to ask a Wedding Officiant

What kind of ceremonies do you perform? I am able to perform non-denominational religious, non-religious, spiritual, quick and easy, traditional, or non-traditional ceremonies.

Are you ordained? Yes, I am ordained through the Universal Life Church and can legally perform weddings in the state of Colorado. However I am not a religious leader of a church nor am I a judge.

Do you perform same-sex ceremonies? Yep! I also am able to perform civil unions.

What do you wear? I usually wear black or dark, neutral colors during the ceremony without loud patterns. This purely comes from my photographic background. I have found that over the many weddings that I’ve photographed, the attention is more on the couple when the officiant wears black.

How long will my ceremony be? Usually my ceremonies last about 10-20 minutes, depending on what you would like. Sometimes they will last as long as 30 minutes if you have readings and special ceremonies such as a sand ceremony or a hand fasting ceremony.

Do you recommend a rehearsal? For elopements, nope…not needed. If you are having a larger wedding with more than 2 attendants on each side, musicians, parents who are also walking down the aisle, I do recommend one. If you are a take-charge person or you have a wedding planner, they will more than likely be able to head up a rehearsal without the officiant being present. I am willing to come to the rehearsal if you feel it is needed. More info on that is found in the Ala Carte section above.

We want to get married outside of Colorado. Do you travel for weddings? Yes! Contact me and I’ll come up with a quote for a destination wedding.

Is the marriage license included in your package? No. In order for you to be legally married in Colorado, you must visit a County Clerks office and apply for a license. This is a very simple process that usually takes about 20 minutes and you walk out the door with a copy of your license, which you will bring to the ceremony. There is no waiting period and County Clerks can be found in any county courthouse (you do not need to purchase it in the same county as the ceremony location) and their office hours are more than likely found on their website. The license usually runs around $30.

Can I hear a sample of one of your ceremonies? Sure! This is actually a compilation of various excerpts from different weddings that I've performed...if you want to hear a full length ceremony, I can send you a link to one.
