Color Code Picker - Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Color Code Picker is a browser extension that shows the exact color of any pixel on a web page. It works entirely inside your browser.
What the extension does with your data
It does not collect, store on any server, sell or share any personal data. It has no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no user accounts, and it never sends anything over the network.
Screenshots
Only when you click the extension's icon or press its keyboard shortcut, the extension takes a screenshot of the visible part of the current tab, so it can read the exact color of the pixel under the magnifier. This screenshot is kept in your browser's memory only while you are picking and is discarded afterwards. It is never saved to disk by the extension and never leaves your computer.
Color history
The last six colors you picked are saved in your browser's local extension storage so they can be shown in the History row. They stay on your device, are not synced, and can be removed at any time with the "Clear" button or by removing the extension.
PDF viewer (Firefox version)
In Firefox, PDF files you open are shown in a PDF viewer built into the extension (Mozilla's pdf.js), so colors can be picked from them. The viewer loads the PDF directly from the website, the same way Firefox's own viewer does. The extension does not read, store or send the contents of any web page or file anywhere.
Permissions
- activeTab: access to the current tab only when you start the picker, to take the screenshot described above.
- scripting: to show the magnifier and the result panel on that page.
- storage: to keep your color history on your device.
- Firefox only - access to all websites, webRequest: to open PDFs in the built-in viewer, as described above.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
