American Colonial Watches

See FEDERAL ERA for turn-of-the-century watches and AMERICAN INNOVATION for rare examples of early watchmaking

American watches dating prior to the Treaty of Paris of 1783 that ended the Revolutionary War, true colonial examples, are rare. Five are displayed below including the earliest known, an amazing silver sun & moon automation dial watch by New York clock and watchmaker, John Wright.
