Pōkeno

Pōkeno is a tiny little town on the way south from Auckland, but it has a cult following for its two competing ice cream shops, which offer 1-scoop, 2-scoop, 4-scoop even up to 12-scoop combos at shockingly low prices. (Truth is, the staff are run off their feet and you wonder if this is a sensible way to operate ... but there we go.)

Pōkeno is such an important stop that when Highway 1 was moved out to a by-pass, the town actually got two highway exits.
