Following the chase game tutorial on scratch, I found a few sprites that I liked in scratch's library and decided on a game where you play as a baseball player trying to catch a baseball. I had never used scratch before this assignment, and I had some preconceived notions about it being easy and limited. However, after working with it for this studio activity, I was impressed with how much you could do with scratch.
Story: In Dancing Mike's Jamboree, Mike leads you through a call and response at his concert. I love going to concerts, and I love when artists get the crowd involved during a show.
Mechanics: Dancing Mike's Jamboree is a typing game, so the player must pay attention to Mike's dialogue to see what the next word or phrase is that they need to type. Each word gives more points than the previous word, but they also get harder as the game progresses. The words get longer, use uncommon letters, and move faster the further you go.
Aesthetics: Because the game is set at a concert, I made the background look like a stage and the color of the background slowly change to simulate the lights at a concert. I also put music in the background to make it seem like Mike is dancing to the music.
Technology: Because this is a typing game, the player will need to use a keyboard. In addition, there is a button to mute the music in case it gets annoying. For this button, the user would need a mouse.
