In London the hours aren't quite as bad as Primus, but... If you're looking for a break from life and want some Campaign play of Necromunda without having to commit to playing every week in an actual campaign, you’ve come to the right place.
Cog-League is designed to be a rolling campaign without end, allowing gangs and players to drop in and out, while still enjoying the unique narrative aspect of Necromunda. It sits alongside the standard Necromunda campaigns we run at the club; members of your gang can join these campaigns, bringing with them their experience before returning to your main gang for league.
The League uses the new Necromunda Rulebook (N23) as its rule basis, alongside source books such as the various ‘House of…’ books for the main gangs, ‘Books of…’ for the various cults, outcast, enforcer gangs etc., and some rules published in White Dwarf and recently collated in the Necromunda Apocrypha book. Essentially any official Necromunda rules.
The House Rules for Cog-League are broken into two sections, Core Values (listed below) and Period Specific House Rules (listed on the page dedicated to the specific year of the league).
Joining the League should be easy:
⚙️ Join our WhatsApp group and express your interest. (You must be part of the LWG MeetUp group first which can be joined as per here)
⚙️ Setup your gang(s) on Gyrinx and provide the organisers a link to your gang through WhatsApp. You will then be added to the League tracker on Gyrinx.
⚙️ Find an opponent through the WhatsApp group and signup to play at LWG or a venue of your choice (generally booked via MeetUp).
⚙️ Play games and record your results on Gyrinx.
⚙️ Use WhatsApp for additional pre-and post-battle admin, questions for arbitrators, commiserations, trash-talking, in-character threats etc.
A REMINDER OF THE ACTUAL "CORE VALUE"
Be nice / Don’t be a dick – The first and most important rule. Ask yourself if it feels like you’re trying to find a loophole or game the system. If it does, then it probably is and it won’t be fun for other players. So, don’t.
Remember: We are grown adults and we are playing a game of plastic soldiers gangers where normal people can’t make fun of us. It should be impossible to take seriously. In summary, the best game of Necromunda is one where, regardless of the eventual victor, all players had fun and legends were made.
Our other values can be found here...
STRUCTURE AND RHYTHM
The League is not based around the modern Necromunda format of fighting battles to gain or defend control of territories, rackets, or other assets. Instead, battles are fought only to earn Credits, Experience (XP), and Reputation. Battles are fought solely for the Rewards described by the Scenario.
There are no Campaign Weeks/Cycles – Instead, battles serve as markers for Income, Fighter Recoveries, and other actions, events, or rules that are normally tied to Campaign Weeks/Cycles.
GROUP GAMES
Just like there is no ‘I’ in Necromunda, there is no ‘we’ either. That said, group games (3+ players) are often the best games. Every quarter we will look at organising at group game to get together and FIGHT. If any player wishes to devise a scenario or narrative, please let the arbitrator know.
RETIRING FIGHTERS
Gangs may retire Fighters to reduce their gang rating. Fighters with the Gang Hierarchy (or equivalent) rule may leave the gang with all their Wargear and become a Hired Gun.
CAPTURED FIGHTERS
Players may buy back any previously Captured Fighters sold to the Guilders for their cost minus equipment.
SWINGING AT THE TOP DOG
Inevitably some gangs become too powerful that they cease to be fun to play against. We will encourage two possible solutions to this issue should it arise:
Blaze of Glory: The powerful gang faces off against an alliance of smaller gangers in a multi-player showdown. This is deliberately unbalanced against the powerful gang. Scenarios to achieve this have been printed in White Dwarf and the Arbitrator can provide.
Retirement/Splinter Gang: The powerful gang retires of its own volition. The player may choose to form a Splinter Gang from some of its key members, reducing its rating back down to 1000 credits as per the gang creation rules.
HOUSE RULES UPDATES
Any persistent rules issues or clarifications will be entered into a revised house rules and shared through the WhatsApp chat where we will notify all players should rules change along the way.
