Students choose to either create a project in which one sprite bounces off another to make a sound or to add to their Activity 6 Music Video Project.

Movie Sound Effects Starter Project
Movie Sound Effects Example Project
If you get stuck, review the Movie Sound Effects Solution Sheet.
Recap the last activity and have students log in to the Scratch website [if they have an account].
Watch Video 1 and provide the Stater Project link in the chat.
Recap the student instructions from Video 1:
Click the Music Effects Starter Project link.
Remix the project.
Add a sprite to use as the main character.
Give students time follow the instructions from Video 1.
Watch Video 2: Make sure students do not get lost in the "design" step of choosing costumes for their main character and adding four sounds.
Give students 5-10 minutes of independent coding time to complete the instructions for Video 2.
Watch Video 3: Students may be confused by having to define the "make noise" block. They might try to use the block before defining it.
Potential Explanation: Define the block's procedure in order to make your program more efficient. It's like teaching a child how to tie their shoes. You don't need to describe every step every time--eventually children learn the "tie shoes" procedure to make life more efficient. In this way, you need to "teach" the computer how you want it to make noise.
Give students 5-10 minutes of independent coding time to complete the instructions for Video 3.
Students may choose Add-ons to enhance their project [see videos below].
To share students should:
Click the orange "Share" button
Copy the link from the project page
When there are five minutes left in class, instruct students to share their project link in the chat to allow other students to test their program.
Discuss the activity and facilitate a brief discussion about what students learned and experienced.
Question 1: For those who chose to work on your music video, what features did you add to it?
Question 2: For those of you who worked on sound effects, how did you use If-then statements?
Question 3: What are some new things that you learned or discovered while working on your project?
