Coding for the Culture: Beats by Us Challenge
Coding for the Culture is a fun learning experience and competition for local Houston middle and high school students. Participants will use EarSketch, a free online code editor, to compose musical remixes using songs from top recording artists.
Participants are challenged to use Ear Sketch, a free online code editor, to remix mix beats from top recording artists. Students can compete with their class, coding clubs, or on their own from January 1st, 2022 to February 25th, 2022.

Compose a musical remix of featured artists’ songs coded on the EarSketch platform that promotes a message of equity and meets the following requirements:
Houston, TX Metropolitan Area
Middle or high school students
Length of 30 - 60 secs
Include at least 5 distinct tracks
Runs in the EarSketch platform without error(s)
Song promotes "Inspiration"

EarSketch is a free web-based code editor to help students learn to code through music. Students can use Python or JavaScript coding languages to produce studio-quality music from top recording artists or create their own.
