WCCHS ends the year with a week of fun activities! On December 18 - 22, 2023, the Reindeer Games were held every day during lunch time. A total of ten teams participated and one team was eliminated after every game. The winners got their team name on the trophy and a $100 gas card.
The Reindeer Games started with a Window Decorating activity. Each team was given a Christmas movie that they had to represent in their illustrations. The teams wasted no time–they took their spot outside the Learning Commons and started placing colorful markers on the windows. Student judges then evaluated each display and gave 100 points to Santa’s Slayers. Unfortunately, the first team to be eliminated was Sweating Over Shrek.

The second game, Wrap it Up, was held in the Foyer. For this game, the teams had to wrap one member in gift wrapping paper before the time ran out and extra points were given for creativity. The Staff Team was the first to finish and won the round, while The Attack Snowballs were eliminated.
Another day, another game! The third game was the Hot Chocolate Relay. Each team was asked to form a line in the gym. The first member had to run to the table that had hot chocolate and drink it up before running back to their line, passing the task to the next member. The first team to finish all their turns was the Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins! The Scary Snowpeople were eliminated.
With seven teams left, the Death Match begins. Name That Carol was the last game the teams had to get through to qualify for the Reindeer Race. The speakers randomly played Christmas songs during lunch and the teams had to race to the teddy bear on a crash mat and give the name of the song to gain points. The team eliminated was the Light Bulbs, while the Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins bagged 100 points once again!
Finally, on the last day of classes, the Reindeer Race occurred. The previous points do not matter, the stakes are higher, and victory is one game away. The six remaining teams participated in heats. Three heats were done until only two teams remained: The Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins and the Staff Team. The fastest raced through the whole school, pushing one of their members on a rolling chair. Cameras were set up so that the audience could watch and cheer the teams on. The race started in the gym and once the teams were given a ‘go’ signal, they ran to grab a chair and started pushing. They had to grab presents from the table and deliver one to room 114, the Science room, and the Learning Commons. Everyone was on the edge of their seats as the teams raced through with speed and strategy. Ultimately, The Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins came in first–taking home the $100 gas card and having their team name engraved onto the trophy!
To end the week, a special lunch was served by Chef Rhind’s Foods Class. The Reindeer Games was a fun activity that brought out school spirit and a memorable last school day of the year. We look forward to what WCCHS has in store for 2024!
