Welcome to Computational Mechanics of Solids and Structures (CMSS) Lab!!
We are part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Changwon National University. Our lab is dedicated to advancing theoretical and computational mechanics of solids and structures within the continuum mechanics framework, with a strong emphasis on finite element methods and their applications.
Our research activities span the following areas:
Theoretical Mechanics: Advancing constitutive modeling to explore coupled nonlinear multiphysics phenomena in solid materials, with emphasis on poroelasticity, damage evolution, and fracture mechanisms.
Computational Mechanics: Advancement of finite element methods, such as mixed FEM, spline-based and isogeometric analysis, and fluid–structure interaction techniques. We also explore the integration of Scientific Machine Learning (SciML) into solid and structural mechanics.
Applied Mechanics: Application of theoretical and computational methods to the design and analysis of solid materials and structural systems, with particular focus on soft materials, mechanobiology, and biomedical engineering.
We actively collaborate with academic institutions and industry partners to bridge the gap between fundamental research and practical applications, striving to create innovative solutions for both engineering and biomedical challenges.
