Computational Mechanics
of Solids and Structures
Welcome to Computational Mechanics of Solids and Structures (CMSS) Lab!!
We are part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Changwon National University. Our research focuses on advancing theoretical and computational mechanics of solids and structures within the continuum mechanics framework, utilizing finite element methods.
Our current academic endeavors include the development in the following areas:
Theoretical Mechanics: Investigating coupled nonlinear phenomena in solid materials, including poroelasticity, damage mechanics, and failure mechanisms.
Computational Mechanics: Advancing finite element methods, including the mixed finite element methods, spline-based and isogeometric finite element methods, and fluid-structure interaction techniques.
Applied Mechanics: Designing and analyzing materials, particularly soft materials, and conducting structural system studies, including modal analysis and applications to offshore structures. Our work also extends to mechanobiology and biomedical engineering.
We collaborate on a wide range of projects with both academic institutions and industry partners, striving to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and practical applications.
